COMPANY HISTORY

Jacobs Properties has been in the real estate and development business since the 1920's.

The company was formerly known as the Brookside Realty and Building Company, founded by Harry Jacobs, one the first major developers in the Kansas City area. Harry built may single family housing projects in some of the more prominent areas of Kansas City. Also, Harry was one of the first developers of the Brookside Missouri area developing the Brookside Theater Building and retail shops and office building at 6314 Brookside Plaza. Although the Brookside Theater has been replaced by a Milgrams Grocery Store, the shops and offices remain in high demand today. Harry was one of the early pioneers in the real estate business as documented in his published book, "The Road from Rags to Riches".

Leon Jacobs, now Chairman of the Board, joined with Harry Jacobs in the last 1940's and shifted the companies major focus to commercial development, management, brokerage and multi-family development. One of Leon and Harry's first developments, 93,100 square foot Raytown Plaza Shops and Offices at 63rd & Blue Ridge Boulevard in Raytown, Missouri, was quite successful and one of the first strip shopping centers developed in Kansas City. This development lead to many more strip shopping center developments throughout the area. Some of the multi-family units developed include the Gladstone Square Apartments in Gladstone, Missouri, the Buckingham Square Apartments in Raytown, Missouri, the 75th Street Apartment project in Overland Park, Kansas and the Ruskin Apartment in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jeff Jacobs joined and started Jacobs Properties as president in 1991 and now heads all brokerage activity and day-to-day operations of the company. In addition to the in-house development projects, Jeff Jacobs expanded the companies operations to marketing third party management and leasing contracts for various local and national investors in the Kansas City market.

The firm now offers full real estate services consisting of sales, leasing, development, management, tenant representation and construction.

Jacobs Properties is smaller than some of the larger brokerage houses but through their 50 years in real estate can offer the maximum amount of coverage to both national and local users and offer a great deal of experience to aid their clients on their real estate investments.

Additionally, we feel the great deal of direct attention we offer each property aids us in expediting our sales and leasing efforts in reasonable amounts of time.
